Psychologist Jobs description
Clinical psychologists aim at reducing psychological distress and enhance and promote psychological wellbeing. These psychologists often work in health and social care settings and are part of a multidisciplinary team. They use the methods and findings of psychology and psychological theories with clients in order to enable the clients to make positive changes in their lives.Clinical psychologists work with people of all ages who experience mental or physical health problems such as anxiety and depression, serious and enduring mental illness, adjustment to physical illness, neurological disorders, addictive behaviors, eating disorders, personal and family relationship problems, and learning disabilities. Some very experienced clinical psychologists are also called on to write legal reports and act as expert witnesses.
Candidates who aspire to be psychologists need to have a four-year college degree in psychology. Empathy and a person-centered approach to clients, tolerance of stress, the ability to recognize one’s own limitations and respond to difficult situations, and the ability to apply the knowledge of academic psychology and research to clinical problems are a must for a psychologist and so are strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
