Genetics Science Jobs description
Genetics Science Job Openings consist of the positions of a forensic scientist and a genetic counselor.Forensic scientists prove extremely helpful in solving criminal cases. A forensic scientist studies the DNA, blood samples, finger prints, and the level of alcohol, drugs and poison in blood. He/she performs analysis of handwriting, ink and paper. A forensic scientist has to provide evidence in the court in legal cases and cooperate with police investigators. A bachelor’s degree in Science along with specialization in chemistry, physics, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, toxicology, crime scene examination and fingerprint examination is considered for the position of a forensic scientist.
A genetic counselor counsels people whose genetic background can prove to be problematic for their progeny. He/she obtains and studies the family history of the patient, the nature of the disease and its impact on the patients and on their children. A genetic counselor also refers the patients for further counselling if needed and recommends them to physicians in case the gravity of the genetic problem can be treated and cured to some extent. A master’s degree in human genetics and counselling is required for the position of a genetic counselor.
