Ingredient CoordinatorThe Ingredient Coordinator reports to Research and Development.\u00A0The functions of the Ingredient Coordinator are split into two areas of focus: ingredient management and specification management. This role supports the development of food products by accurately reviewing product and ingredient specifications that help drive plant production. The individual in this position is also responsible in assisting the creation of new ingredients and their on-going management ensuring federal compliance and accuracy within the company. \u00A0Responsibilities Manages the creation and maintenance of ingredient specifications in accordance with federal regulations including FDA and USDA standards Evaluates and maintains all ingredient suppliers\u2019 regulatory documents including, but not limited to, ingredient technical documents, 3rdparty certifications, Global Food Safety Initiatives documents, etc. Assists in the pilot launch and maintenance of Food Safety and Quality Assurance ingredient supplier auditing program Compiles timely and accurate answers to internal and external ingredient regulatory questions pertaining to allergens, product formulations, and claims. Maintains British Retail Consortium (BRC) audit process, cross references projects within Pilgrim\u2019s project management system Ability to manage and prioritize multiple internal and external projects at once with assistance from manager Collaborates with cross-functional teams including Regulatory, Labeling, Product Developers, Ingredient Procurement, Marketing, Quality Assurance, and Insights and Innovation Team, co-manufacturers, and USDA consultants as needed to ensure ingredient compliance to federal regulations Stays up to date with USDA changes to regulations that impact food, nutrition, and allergen policies, and product claim substantiation Audits and publishes product specifications for Pilgrim\u2019s processing plants within Product Lifecycle Management recipe development Other duties as assignedQualifications: Bachelor\u2019s Degree, 0-1 year related professional experience. Degree in Food Science, Food Safety, or related technical field, preferred. At least 1 year of experience in a food safety role within a consumer-packaged goods company, preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite SAP experience a plus Excellent organization skills, project management skills, and the ability to multitask Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate to with employees and external parties at all levels of the organization Knowledge of USDA regulatory landscape in the US as it relates to food product claims, claims substantiation, food and nutrition policies, allergen policies, and food safety, preferred Problem solving and troubleshooting skills; ability to create solutions Ability to travel 10-20% of the time As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations.
