To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.nnSubstitution of Education for Specialized Experience - For the GS-5 level, a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirements. At the GS-7 level, one full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. At the GS-9 level, a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted. Its purpose is to serve as a technical expert for database administration in the state. Administers multiple relational database management systems (RDBMS) and software packages residing on multiple hardware and software platforms.nn--Provides assistance, advice and guidance to organizational users, both in the administrative and technical areas, concerning the use of the multiple database management systems available for use.nn--Using software-engineering techniques, designs new applications that enhance existing systemsnn--Responsible for the management of quality assurance and system efficiency functions of assigned RDBMS systems by enforcing the prescribed RDBMS.nn--Reviews and implements security provisions to ensure authorized access and integrity of the RDBMS.nn--Provides technical advice and coordinates the monitoring and tuning requirements for RDBMS optimization of performance.nn--Reviews system documentation, users manuals and training guides.nn--Troubleshoots problems involved in the input, retrieval or modification of database information and the general operation and maintenance pertinent to any of the organizations data system elements or sub-elements.nn--Tests new DBMS software and implements updates and changes.nn--Ensures resolution of DBMS inconsistencies across the installation in coordination with other information technology specialists and systems administers.nn--Develops system backup and recovery plans assigned RDBMS applications.nn--Makes recommendations on alternatives involving major projects.nn--Analyzes DBMS inconsistencies with other system administrators and devises recovery plans for failure resolution.nn--Provides technical assistance to personnel involved in developing system design, programming, specifications and adapting commercially available software.nn--Participates in the analysis of requests for new and modified applications.nn--Provides DBMS maintenance of a data dictionary, listing the kinds of data in databases and how to access them.nn--Coordinates and integrates data elements for a variety of projects in a number of dissimilar areas.nn--Performs other duties as assigned.,qualifications:Verbiage displayed on your resume or application must contain your own words. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.
