This position requires knowledge of all areas of the Quality Assurance Department (Micros/Chemical Lab, Receiving, Raw and RTE Areas). The QA Tech requires knowledge of the company HACCP, SQF and SSOP plans along with the QA Programs and basic lab technology vital in ensuring no system failure. This position requires knowledge of out automated systems and the ability to track product through the system. This position reports to the QA Manager and is significant to the evolution and sustenance of a best in class lean quality culture with a state of the art, highly automated meat slicing facility located in Kansas City, KS. Ability to work all shifts. Education: Associates degree in biology, food science or related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred HACCP and SQF trained and certified preferred. Experience: Background/exposure to process control and product development, Micro/Chem. lab practices. Strong knowledge of FSIS regulations, specifically HACCP, SSOP and SQF requirements. Computer Skills: Intermediate - Microsoft office (Excel, Word); Outlook. Communication Skills: Must have a strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization from USDA to Production Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment Special Skills: Perform Daily QA Activities: Coordinating the execution of Plant Lab monitoring programs Maintain compliance of HACCP and SSOP plans and the in-house Quality Assurance and manufacturing programs for any area of the plant Complete understanding of processing specifications and routings Resolve issues and provide information on quality concerns. Work with USDA and production to resolve any issues. Maintain inventories of all lab supplies and chemicals. QA Technicians are trained and capable of performing laboratory testing and other procedures while adhering to GMPs and safety guidelines. Respond to Operational Needs Ability to review HACCP paperwork and resolve, within reasonable timelines, concerns or deviations. Ability to resolve concerns identified under Quality Assurance programs. Able to assess SSOP paperwork and identify deviations and corrective measures in any given area. Act as a liaison for company/USDA matters, notifying the appropriate individuals of the concerns and assist in resolving those concerns. Formulation and processing verification deviations; resolve concerns. Assist Operations with processing or formulations changes. Help improve the quality process. Verifies process control practices and compliance, bringing ideas forward of process/program improvement. Coordinates and clarifies of Quality Assurance policies for all areas of the facility. Directly involved with daily product cuttings and resolution of concerns. Ensure lab equipment is calibrated, maintained and functioning properly. Ensure all records of testing are complete, accurate, legible and in conformance to standards
