UES has position open for a Risk Assessment Toxicologist to join our team supporting research within the 711th HPW, USAF School of Aerospace Medicine, at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. The Toxicologist will conduct detailed toxicological and risk assessment analyses of USAF population operational health hazards related to DoD weapons systems. This will involve expert opinion analysis and assessment of published literature, DoD reported data and newly designed and executed USAF or DoD studies. This individual will routinely engage in complex interactions with industrial hygienists, flight surgeons and aerospace engineers concerning USAF and DoD weapons systems. Some of the primary functions for this role will include:

Analyze data from the published literature, DoD reported data and newly designed and executed USAF or DoD studies.

Write and design new research proposals to answer operational toxicological questions of concern to the USAF.

Develop physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models, detailed computational biological analyses and other advanced analytical techniques (80%), as applied to human health risk assessments and to address any current operational safety needs.

Trains and directs team members in new toxicological technologies

Attend and present at scientific meetings; publish research in scientific journals


Ph.D. in Toxicology/Risk Assessment, Engineering or Life sciences is required, D.A.B.T. certification preferred

At least 20 years’ experience preferred

Active member of the Society of Toxicology expected, with active participation in Aerospace Society of Medical Association and other DoD Medical research communities preferred

Frequent publication of research efforts in peer-reviewed publications and presentation at national and international scientific meetings

Strong written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to collaborate

This position is working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
