Job Description:

The Quality Assurance Technician performs required inspections and audits from receiving through shipping of finished products to ensure conformance to customer expectations, company standards and regulatory requirements. Inspections shall verify that products meet food safety and regulatory requirements using established procedures at prescribed frequencies. Results of all inspections shall be documented per company standard operating procedures including immediate reporting and corrective action of deficiencies.

Essential Duties

Fully support QA and Operations management in high care program implementation.

Engage with Operations, communicates with Supervisors to prevent and resolve any quality issues on the production floor.

Ensure quality standards are met by auditing production.

Perform pre-operational, operational inspections in accordance with GMP standards.

Perform sanitation and environmental monitor swabbing.

Perform corrective actions for any food safety, quality standard, or sanitation issues.

Carry out monitoring and verification activities in accordance with Food Safety Plan (FSP)/HACCP Plan.

Executes the Food Safety Plan and Food Quality Plan included in the SQF Program at the front-line level.

Monitors the Food Safety Plan and Food Quality Plan effectiveness and conformance with SQF system requirements

Monitors metal detection validation & verification.

Perform quality checks, including, but not limited to, physical, chemical, functionality, net weight checks, packaging, Lot code inspections, sensory checks. Examples include: using analytical scales, beakers/graduated cylinders, HIR Moisture Analyzers, Agtron, tensile strength testing, pH, etc.

Verify equipment calibration.

Verify specifications for incoming ingredients, work in process, and finished good.

Stop production line if product doesn’t meet quality standards.

Follow hold protocol for any nonconforming ingredients and finished goods.

Identifies, investigates and/or determines whether out-of-compliance finished product should be placed on hold.

Perform routine audits as required by FSP and SQF system.  Including: GMP, Sanitary Design, Job Function, Hard and Brittle Plastic, Foreign Material, Etc.

Coordinates disposition and/or rework with leadership approval.

Communicate any issues to Supervisors and Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

Two-year Associate’s Degree in Laboratory Science or associated program

LANGUAGE SKILLS

: Ability to read in English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, including decimals and fractions. Simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, computer scanning devices, adjustable measuring instruments. Check reports, forms, records and comparable data, where interpretation requires basic skills knowledge.

Schedule: 12 hour shift working 2-2-3 (every other weekend as a 3 day weekend off)
