The most interesting of all possible jobs and careers are those that deal with research and biological sciences. These are jobs, which allows individuals to explore the questions that they want answered as well as discover answers to many of the troubling issues that relate to human sciences and the study of the human body. Researchers enter these fields knowing that it will be months or years before they may find an answer or discover an important achievement, but they also know that this type of work is a calling just as much as it is a career.

One of the questions that may never be answered is the one about what separates and distinguishes humans from other animals. While there has been a lot of progress made toward understanding an answer, research in this area continues at a rapid pace. Some scientists have already presented the latest genetic comparison involving man and chimpanzees.

What their work has shown is that there is only a tiny portion of DNA, which differentiates the two species. According to the research study, there are over 3 billion components to a human genetic code and the differences between humans and chimps may be found in only 200 thousand of these, which is an incredibly small percentage of the total.

For scientists who are involved with research into areas of human sciences, this is fascinating information but it leads to more questions than answers. Among earth’s many mammalian species, the humans and the chimpanzees are the 2 species that have led the pack in the evolution race. It is in these 2 groups that highly sophisticated gene mutation has occurred, and the area of most intensive study for gene researchers is in the development that involves brain activity.

The chimpanzees’ genetic structure has been found to have an overlap of 96% with the genomes of humans. Even more astounding is that the research has found that the sequences in the overlap are identical except for 1%. This is why having the genomes from chimpanzees are of such benefit to scientists who are currently conducting studies and research on human DNA.

Scientists who are deeply involved in genetic research studies are very curious about why Alzheimer’s disease, malaria, and other assorted diseases strike humans and are not found in our closely related chimpanzee brethren. This is one area of study that companies want to look at more closely and they actively recruit some of the top minds from around the world to work for them with a hope of coming up with answers, which will help overcome many of the ailments, which afflict millions of people every year.

The study of the human body is one of the most exhaustive undertakings that anyone could ever begin, and there are numerous jobs available in many areas of research. Research is being done in advanced muscle sciences, human brain activity, and treatment of spinal cord injuries at many institutions throughout the country.

Some colleges and universities join hands with some large private companies to work on specific research and experimental procedures and projects. This gives many undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to gain experience and they will be able to establish a connection with the research company, which can capitalize in the future.

Large pharmaceutical companies also fund research that involves studies of the human body and these companies begin to recruit workers on college campuses across the country. For many students who major in one or more of the biological sciences, a job that allows them to continue their exploration and study is the only career that could ever make sense.

These students also know that they will need to focus on a small system or organ of the body and this will be their prime area of research. The human body is far too complex to study as a whole unit. This is why the range of job specialties, includes research areas that function on hair, skin, or simply a small area of cellular activity.

Employment opportunities for scientists involved in these studies are found at universities, privately owned corporations, and government health organizations.

With money, talent, and research focused on questions about human bodies, it is hoped that answers can be found to questions such as why certain birth defects occur in 4-10% of all babies, and how the human body knows exactly how to produce the correct number of cells to heal a wound. There are many questions on the list and if the right answers can be found the benefits will be limitless.
