The assistant job openings consist of the positions of a lab assistant and a research assistant.
A lab assistant is responsible for maintaining the details and records of the testing samples and the requisition slips given to the laboratory. He/she has to ensure that cleanliness and hygiene is maintained in the lab which includes disinfecting the equipment and the instruments used. The other functions of a lab assistant consist of certain administrative tasks viz. maintaining adequate inventory and keeping a record of the same, filing lab reports and certain technical tasks such as weighing and dispensing of media and chemicals as well as preparing and staining slides used for microscopic examinations. A high school diploma in chemistry, biology and mathematics is required for this position along with basic knowledge of lab techniques and procedures.
A research assistant performs validation and analysis of research data, prepares the research protocol, participates in clinical trials, experiments and maintains a record of the same as well as prepares questionnaires on the subject of research. A bachelor’s degree in Science along with academic or work experience in the field of research is required for this position.
