Overview: Qualifications: Bachelors degree in technical discipline (preferably in computer science or related field) or equivalent experience. Masters degree in computer science or related field preferred. At least 5 years experience in software design and development with 2 years in a leadership role. Previous experience in advanced software design, documentation, and project leadership. Meets all other requirements of the Lead Software Engineer position. Responsibilities: Leads and functions as both technical and personnel manager for specific groups software development initiatives. Typically supervises from 5 to 10 software engineers, and occasionally documenters, testers, or other positions. Plans, schedules and directs work group of software engineers - coordinates activities of the group to meet project deadlines and resolves conflicting demands of internal and external customers - balances workload. Works closely with documentation and testing groups to ensure success of all aspects of the software development process. Demonstrates initiative to lead. Works regularly with senior management on product functional requirements, design decisions, etc. Evaluates trade-offs of functionality versus risk, cost, and schedule, and presents these to senior management. Handles complex material easily and persuasively.
