ENGINEER (Mid-Level or Staff Level)
BUREAU VERITAS NORTH AMERICA has a vacancy for the following position:
GEOLOGIST/ ENGINEER (Mid-Level or Staff Level)
Provide technical support in the areas of Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments according to federal, state, and local regulations. Responsible for project planning, preparation, field activities, and report preparation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct Phase I and Phase II environmental site investigations.
Determine technical method of investigation best suited to project requirements.
Collect samples related to site investigations (soil, groundwater, wastewater, air/gas, solid waste, lead paint, asbestos, etc).
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and technicians to ensure proper work procedure and project completion.
Prepare and coordinate the equipment (in-house and through subcontractors) necessary to complete the field work.
Interpret data and prepare technical reports, in a timely manner, that meet company and industry standards and address the client's specific needs.
An ability to write clear, accurate and technically suitable correspondence and reports is essential.
Respond to client requests and concerns promptly.
Knowledge of Phase I environmental site assessments, Hazardous Material Surveys, Environmental Compliance, and other relevant areas are helpful.
Perform other duties related to position as assigned.
Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in Geology, Engineering, or related field.
Staff or Entry-level Candidates having 0 - 4 years experience.
Good verbal and written communications skills are essential.
Ability to use personal computers and related software.
OSHA 40-Hour and HAZWOPER certification is desired, but not required.
Detail oriented and have multi-tasking abilities.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance in order to travel to various work sites.
The employee will work in a variety of indoor/outdoor environments which may include commercial buildings and manufacturing facilities.
The employee may be required to bend, lift over 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or areas with difficult access.
The employee may be exposed to inclement weather such as hot, cold, and wet conditions.
The employee may work in areas that contain hazardous substances and/or air pollution and may require the use of personal protective equipment and respiratory protection gear (air purifying respirator, self-contained breathing apparatus).
Travel, to various work sites, will be required.
