Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation (MCRF) is the largest private medical research institute in Wisconsin. MCRF is the research division of Marshfield Clinic, an integrated multispecialty health care system with over 750 physicians and 45 regional centers. MCRF employs 25 doctoral-level scientists and over 150 scientific and technical support staff. MCRF research centers include Center for Clinical Research, National Farm Medicine Center, Epidemiology Research Center, Center for Human Genetics, and Biomedical Informatics Research Center. Research at MCRF is funded by a variety of federal agencies and other sources, including CDC, NIH, NIOSH, FDA, and private industry.
The Scientist in this tenure track position will conduct high quality, independent, and original research in Human Genetics. Specific academic rank will be determined by individual qualifications. The Scientist in this position is expected to: publish research results in leading peer-reviewed journals and books; compete successfully for extramural funding; collaborate and consult with other Foundation scientists and Marshfield clinician investigators; contribute expertise in the design, conduct, analysis of a wide range of research; participate in Center, Foundation, and national scientific duties, such as committee membership, presentations at professional conferences, and peer review of research proposals and publications; help to maintain an effective work environment within the Center and Foundation; and promote positive relationships with the communities and patients served by Marshfield Clinic. He/she will contribute to MCRF’s mission: to discover and communicate scientific knowledge that substantially improved human health and well-being. While specific research activities will be determined by the individual’s interest, hiring preference will be given to those with research programs in Genetic Networks/Systems Biology or Population (Haploblock) Structure as they relate to Human Genetics with an emphasis on Genome/Phoneme mapping and the analysis of large population-based genetic repositories.
Qualified applicants must have a PhD in Genetics, Systems Biology, Biomedical Informatics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or other related field.
Research experience in Genetics, Systems Biology, Biomedical Informatics, Bioinformatics, or Computational Biology required. Demonstrated ability to plan and carry out research experiments and projects is required. Publication record of original research in peer-reviewed sources is required. Experience is multi-center research projects preferred. A record of extramural funding for research projects and peer review experience are expected for senior candidates.
