By Scott LaFee

Install A Watering System To Grow Tropical Flowers In Hot Areas
By Jeff Rugg

Q: I know it seems too soon to think about summer plants; however, I want to get an early start and buy some smaller plants now so they will grow bigger before summer. Upcoming Roses Judged On Growth, Color And Fragrance
By Jeff Rugg

Last winter, the Jackson & Perkins rose company asked if I would like to grow roses during the summer of 2007; they would be released to the public in 2008. I jumped at the chance. Not Sure if Your Plants Need Water? The Thirsty Light Can Help
By Jeff Rugg

As many longtime readers know, I like to test garden products before recommending them to you; I don't believe press releases any more than you do. Just before Christmas I discovered a product that could have been a good present, but I didn't have time to test it. Now I have used it long enough to let you know it will work as the advertising says it does.

HOME DECONSTRUCTION

Being fairly nomadic and almost constantly on the move for new forage, African elephants (Loxodontia africana) don't really keep house. But don't tell that to the Kenya dwarf gecko (Lygodactylus keniensis), which probably thinks the big, gray, lumbering pachyderms are wonderful homemakers.

Chemists to Develop Enzyme Mimics
By Megan Fellman

Mother Nature regulates critical cellular activities in plants and animals by using enzymes, catalysts that bring about specific biochemical reactions. Looking to learn from nature, a team of Northwestern University chemists has received a $5 million grant from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research to study and develop bio-inspired supramolecular enzyme mimics for military and civilian applications.

By Emily Sanderson

In the aftermath of the Southern California wildfires in October this year that killed seven and destroyed over 2,000 homes, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger instructed his Blue Ribbon Task Force to review their findings on the 2003 wildfires, which burned 3,600 homes in many of the same places.

Overexcited Neurons Bad for Cell Health
By Megan Fellman

Neurotransmitters have consequences. They initiate events that are critical to a healthy life, giving us the ability to move, to talk, to breathe, to think. But that's if the neurotransmitters are getting it right and sending proper signals downstream to muscle cells, neurons or other cells.
